Why is Panchkarma treatment needed?

According to Ayurveda, good health of a person depends upon the ability to completely metabolize all the different aspects of life, assimilating that which nourishes and eliminating the rest. When the digestive energy in our body called Agni (fire) are robust than it creates healthy tissues and eliminates waste products from the body. This way a subtle essence of Ojas is created in a healthy body. Ojas is the inner most fluid of our psychophysiology which becomes the basis of clarity of perception, immunity and inner strength of the body.

But, when, we cannot completely digest our food, experiences and even emotions then the toxins starts accumulating in our bodily tissues. The Agni in this case gets weakened resulting in incomplete digestion and creating toxins to get stored inside body. This toxic residue (Ama) gets accumulated inside body and creates imbalance in the three doshas and ultimately cause a disease.

Here the need of Panchkarma arises. Panchakarma is an elegant cleansing process that releases stored toxins and restores the body's innate healing ability. It is a five-fold therapy that is based on removing the doshic imbalances, improve digestive strength, increase immune status and remove toxins from the body. Ayurveda recommends Panchakarma as a seasonal treatment for maintaining mental and physical hygiene and balance.
